PURPOSES
To allow income-eligible families to apply to DSHA's Waiting List for Assisted Rental Housing.


PRIORITY
The Delaware State Housing Authority is dedicated to providing safe, decent and affordable subsidized rental housing to Income-Eligible families in Kent and Sussex counties of Delaware. For this reason, priority on the waiting list is given to those applicants who work or live in Kent or Sussex counties of Delaware.


SCREENING
You May Not Be Eligible For Housing - if you or other household members:
  • have ever been evicted from federally-assisted housing;
  • owe any money to any public housing authority;
  • have been arrested in the past year or convicted in the past five years for either drug-related or violent criminal activity:
  • have ever been convicted of manufacture or production of methamphetamine;
  • are subject to a lifetime registration requirement under a State sex offender registration program...
  • Regulations may prohibit you from being on these waiting lists.

    RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITES
    PRIVACY:
    We are committed to maintaining the privacy and security of the personal information of all visitors to this site to the fullest extent permitted by law. Regulations require the collection of information on the application, including Social Security Numbers (SSN). We use the SSN to determine initial and ongoing eligibility, prevent duplicate participation and help us make mass changes. We will also use the SSN to check information you give us against information we have in our records and against other Federal, State and local government agency computer matching systems. This information will also be used to monitor compliance with program regulations and for program management. If you give us false information on purpose, legal action may be taken against you.
    When you visit this Web site, some basic information may be passively collected (automatically sent to us by your Web browser). This information will be used solely to help us make this site more useful to visitors, and to learn about the number of visitors to our site and the types of technology they use. All of this helps us ensure that this site is as useful as possible. This basic information that may be collected is as follows:

    APPEAL / FAIR HEARING RIGHTS:
    I understand that I, or my representative, may appeal to the Housing Authority subscribed to herein or the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) if I am not satisfied with any decision made by the Authority, or if I feel that I have been discriminated against because of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, disability, or political beliefs. As part of the appeal process, I understand that I have a right to a fair hearing and that I may be represented at a hearing by any attorney or any other person I choose.

    STAY CURRENT:
    Please keep all information current. It is VITAL that we be able to reach you by mail. If at any time your mailing address changes, you must report that change to us immediately. If we are unable to reach you by mail, your name will be removed from the waiting list.

    Once a year we will send you an "Update Letter" to verify your continued interest in our housing programs and to verify your personal information. You will be required to respond to that update letter within 30 days or your name will be removed from the waiting list.

    When your name comes to the top of the waiting list, you will be notified by mail to schedule an interview. If you fail to request an interview or if you fail to report for that interview, your name will be removed from the waiting list.
