1. Register

Before you can create a new application you must register on this site. You can do this by clicking the register link on the top right side of this page. Once there fill in all the information you can. You will also need to pick a security question in case you forget your password. Make sure you choose the correct department affiliation. At DSHA we have many different avenues of service. Choosing our correct department will ensure you have access to the correct application for your needs. Our departments that currently have applications are:

  • Development - Housing Development Construction Program Management
  • Housing Management - Public and Housing Choice Voucher Programs
  • Information Technology - Testing and Website Development

You will also need to fill in the Captcha information. This was added for enhanced security. Just fill in the two words listed in the field provided. Once you fill in all of these fields, click the register button. You will then be asked to sign in for the first time. Once signed in you will see the applications that you have access for displayed. This screen can also be reached from the "Web Application Home" menu option at the top of the form.

2. Create a New Application

Once you have completed the registration process, you can create a new application. To do this, click the "Web Application Home" menu link at the top of the form. Once there, click on the name of the application you wish to fill out. Further instruction for that application will be on the first tab of the application. You will need to have javascript turned on in your browser for the application to work. This web application has been tested with Internet Explorer 7 & 8 as well as Firefox 8. Please notice at the top center there is a countdown from 59 minutes. This is how much time you have to save the application before it times out. You can save your changes as a draft with the "Save Draft" button at any time. This will reset your countdown. You can also sign out and come back later to finish your draft applications. Just be sure to save the application before you leave the page. Also do not use the back or refresh buttons, or you will loose your information.

Once you are ready to submit your application, you can click the "Submit Application" button. This will save your changes and submit the application, if all the required fields are filled in. Required fields are those denoted with an asterisk (*) at the beginning of the field name. If your application did not save, all of the required fields that are empty will turn red, telling you where to complete your changes. If your application is not submitted, you will still need to use the "Save Draft" button to save your current changes. Once your application is submitted, you will no longer be able to edit the application. If DSHA needs more information, we will place the application back in draft status and inform you that a change is needed.

3. Application Status

There are 6 different status codes your application can have. You can only edit your application in two of them, the "new" status and the "draft" status. The following is a list of these status codes:

  • New - Your application was just started and is not saved as a draft or submitted.
  • Draft - Your application is in draft status and is still being worked on by you.
  • Submitted - Your application has been successfully submitted to DSHA and is under review.
  • Approved - Your application has been accepted and it is approved.
  • Disapproved - Your application has been accepted and has been denied.

Please note that only you and DSHA can see the status of your application. Only you and DSHA can see the information on your application and all application information will be kept confidential.

4. Required Fields

Please be aware that there are some fields in your application that are required to be filled for your application to be submitted. These fields are identified by the asterisk (*) before the field name. If you neglect to fill in one of these fields, and attempt to submit the application, these fields will be colored red to let you know that they must be filled in for you to submit the application.

5. Help Fields

Many of the fields in an application may have helpful information attached to them. You will see the question mark icon after a field or field name if it has help information. You can access the help it gives by clicking the icon, or mousing over it. Some help icons give general information, while other give important instructions on filling in the application.
